As per WHO‘s International Classification of Health Workers, based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO, 2008 revision) – “Physiotherapists assess, plan and implement rehabilitative programs that improve or restore human motor functions, maximize movement ability, relieve pain syndromes, and treat or prevent physical challenges associated with injuries, diseases and other impairments. They apply a broad range of physical therapies and techniques such as movement, ultrasound, heating, laser and other techniques. They may develop and implement programmes for screening and prevention of common physical ailments and disorders.”

This undergraduate course in Physiotherapy (BPT) aims to impart in depth knowledge and skill to a student to become competent in the techniques and develop the proper attitude required for the independent and autonomous practice of Physiotherapy.

The professional degree program consists of classroom lectures, practical and laboratory demonstrations, bed side clinics, self directed academic activities and clinical postings.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary education, Kerala or examination equivalent there to as approved by Kerala University of Health Science with 50% Marks in Biology separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology put together with usual relaxation of mark for Scheduled Castes\Scheduled Tribes and SEBC students as fixed by Government of Kerala.

MODE OF SELECTION TO THE COURSE

The selection of students for the course shall be made strictly based on merit as decided by the competent authority approved by the Government of Kerala and Kerala University of Health Sciences and as per guidelines of the respective council from time to time.

FEES

As stipulated by the Government of Kerala and/or KUHS from time to time.

DURATION PERMITTED FOR OF COMPLETION OF THE COURSE

The duration of course is 4 year +6 month compulsory rotating internship. The maximum permitted period of completion of the course will be 9 years.
